hello everyone, i am having a problem that maybe you guys can help me out with. anyhow, i just reformatted my mother-in-law's computer and i am trying to reinstall the printer (i've never had a problem with this before). anyhow, the printer is not being detected when i hook it up. i am currently using winxp pro, and the printer i have is the hp photosmart p1100. i went to hp's site and downloaded the drivers and stuff and it is still not working. i installed the driver and when it came to the part when it says "plug in the printer" nothing happens.
however, when i am not installing the driver, and i plug and unplug the printer i get that sound that indicates hardware being plugged and unplugged, but nothing else happens. i've reformatted the computer many times before and installed the printer afterwards many times also. dont know what else to do. maybe i can have some suggestions?
