Printer Memory question

HI All

I just bought a printer that has a 8 meg memory and cant be increased. But, I just found out a few documents I want to print are over 20mb. Would this printer even be capable of printing this whole document?

Yes, it just eats some fraction of 8MB of it at a time, the rest is held in the Windows (or whatever OS you're running) print spooler.

I would suppose then that would slow printing down considerably? Also, this printer has a 8 meg memory, anyone tell me just how many pages are in 1 meg of memory?

thanks for your time

Hi, Moveing the print data to the print buffer happens in a very short time compared to the speed that the printer can use it. Print buffer is really so the computer doesn't have to pat it's foot waiting for the printer to print each character. Jim
