printer issues after switching pc's

for some reason, ever since going to the new pc the deskjet is giving me error messages and not completing the print job. windows just says "this document failed to print" and the printer spits out the top 1" of the page printed and stops. then i tries to print the rest of the page but at a VERY slow pace and then spits out a bunch of pages at a fast pace.

wasn't doing this on my old pc (pIII 450mhz running xp). i'm now running an amd 2400 xp cpu w/ WinXP.

any help?
