Hi Guys I am looking to get a CIS for my Epson R2880 and have seen many alternatives. Obviously I understand that cheap is not always cheerful but I have been looking at the cheap kits on ebay that come empty. Does anyone know if these would be just as good as the expensive ones if I bought decent ink for it. Any experiences on these that you guys have would be very much appreciated. Even if its not the cheap ones

Sorry for not replying earlier. I refill my own non-chipped Canon cartridges and have never considered a CIS as a viable option for ME. But that CIS question changes as printing volume gets higher

But the best two forums on CIS usage is maybe to be found on "The nifty stuff forums" and "Steves digicams forum"

Just google either without the quotes and you can get good advice.

Hope it helps.

thanks for the reply I appreciate it. Can I ask which make of ink do you use for refills as there seems to be a lot of controversy about ink made in china being a bit rough and clogging the printer fairly often.

I will check out those websites too, thanks again

In terms of inks, you will find user reviews on those forums. Sadly I am not a fan of Epson printers with piezo electric printheads, as they are far more prone to clogging. But lots of Canon and Epson users will be on those forums, and they will know which specific inks work well with your exact printer. An ink blended for a Canon printer should never be used in an Epson and vice versa.

In general with photo printing, the hardest two things for a third part ink to get right is exact OEM color match and resistance to fading.

OK thanks again for the response - I understand what you mean about the inks from canon to epson. I m just looking for a reasonable colour match being pigment or dye is not really a worry as I will just re print it if it fades but using my CIS when it costs less lol.

Many thanks for the replies.
