Which of the two types is faster and can you show me WHY, such as provide links or calculations used. I would be much appreciated as I'm a bit confused in this area.

USB = 11 Mbps

ECP/EPP Parallel port is 2MB/s not mb/s. Parallel port is faster than USB 1.1.

The FAQ I linked to says that ECP/EPP is 3MB and USB 1 is 1.5MB. But yeah, ECP/EPP is faster than USB 1.

Slow is Slow, what's the difference. Do you have a spare USB cable? If so use it, if not save yer money. (Also keep in mind that USB is CPU driven like a WinModem).

The slower something is, the more important it is that you pick the faster one. You people here sweating over the difference between 250fps and 230fps, that's when you say what's the difference.

Apples and apples. The difference between 250fps and 230fps is just a negligible as the difference between 11Mbps and 16Mbps. Now it might be apples and oranges if you were comparing USB2 @ 400Mbps to USB 1.x @ 11Mbps.
