Printer autostarts when computer boots, want to turn off!!!

I have a Canon BJC-4100 with the 3.97 drivers installed on a Win98SE machine. The parallel port is set to standard on an Asus K7V mobo with Bios 1007.

The printer turns itself on when the computer boots. This is not desirable for me.

Any clues on how to disable?

Thanks in advance,

Thanks duncan but their are no printer entries. The printer starts when the bios posts, not when windows starts.

I have a Xerox C6 and it doesn't have a power switch either (damn those penny-pinching &%-=!s)--it's on all the time (if you don't use it for a day, it will actually run a reset on itself--supposed to keep the head in good shape). And the two resets when I turn my confuser on (once w/BIOS and again when Win loads) really bugged me too. I have taken to unplugging it and only plugging it in after Win has booted. Alternatively you could get a cheap "Power Center" (usually a thin box that sits under your monitor) that has a separate switch for each item that you plug into it (usually has 5 or six AC outlets on the back and phone jacks). Then you can easily turn your printer on just when you need it.
Note: I said get a CHEAP PowCtr becuse you won't be using it for your main surge protector--just for switches. You will have the PowCtr and your phone wire, etc plugged into something good like an APC. Those things have 'surge and noise" suppression like Belkin has 'surge and noise suppression' :disgust: unless you get a good one like Kensington or TrippLite--then they cost more than the combo I suggested.
