Printer and Scanner drives keep disappearing

Put in new hard drive and cd-rom. Had to install the drivers for my Canon Bjc3000 printer and my Microtek scanner. When I shut down my computer at night and start my computer the next day, I cannot use printer or scanner until I reinstall the drives...what gives? My programs (Dreamweaver, Flash) are okay
