Whenever I need more checks, I just open a checking account at some random bank and get like 100 free checks. There's no reason to pay for those things.

The one place I still needed to write checks instead of paying online - my water bill - even their ancient website allowed us to set up direct payment. The last time I wrote a check was... well yesterday for Uncle Sam, but before that I can't even remember.

What you need are friends who are managers at wells fargo locations. I get all the free checks I want, and haven't had any fees since.
