So I opened up an account with Wells Fargo and while some stuff I got free this is really where they rape you. A box of checks for $20? I didn't even get a box of starter checks for free like they do at other banks.

And yes, I know checks are outdated, but they're still easy to use to transfer money from one bank account to the other.

Anyone print their own checks online? If so, who do you use?

I use Walmart.

I think you need a starter check to order though.

How could thye not even give you starter checks ? (Starter checks is a booklet) Not a box.

Ok I used the term starter check a little too liberally. I did get that one tiny booklet of 5 checks without name/address on them but isn't it customary to also receive at least ONE box of 50 checks for free in most checking accounts anyways? That's the one I meant by "starter check". All the other banks I've used like Wachovia, BoA, UBoC, HSBC, and even Citi all gave me those free.

BoA gave me 5 checks that didn't have my name on em and a book of free checks came in the mail maybe a week later.

WaMu gives you free checks. Shit, even BofA gives you free checks. I don't remember the last time I wrote a check though...

Try here ... $2.48 to $7.00 a box depending on design & shipping is free.

Edit: btw this took +/- 10 seconds to locate with Google ;)

I use Versacheck and print my own. You don't need MICR ink to do it, just a regular printer.

I only write about 10 checks a year.

Free logos on em too.

Nice, how long ago did they start offering free checks? I thought I remembered paying for checks from them when I opened my account 5+ years ago. Of course, I'm still going through those checks that have my address from 2 moves ago on them since I write about 1 check per year.

I use Check In The Mail. Good price and nice selection, no problem at all.

Wow, box of checks at the credit union is like 7 bucks and as infrequently as I write them, can almost guarantee that a change of address would be the only reason to get more.

I think its probably about 4 years now that they've offered it. I've only had it for 4.5-5yrs and they started shortly after I joined IIRC.
