Print Sharing on Wireless Network

I have a desktop system with D-Link wireless router attached and use my laptop around the house. the desktop has two printers directly connected and I'd like to find out if it's possible to use those printers from my laptop over the wireless connection. Right now I have to email everything to myself to print, and that's getting tedious.

I tried looking at windows help but it kept mentioning searching for the printer on the network and I don't even know where to start.

Any advice appreciated.

TIA

1. setup windows file sharing using the network setup wizard (good luck with that😛) Make sure they are both in the same workgroup

2. Share the printers on the desktop

3. Use "my network Places > view workgroup computer" to find the desktop machine on the network. Once you find it double click it, and you should see the printer. If not, it will be in the printers folder. Just right-click on it and click connect. It will download the drivers from that PC and it will be setup for you

🙂

Thanks guys! I'm not even sure why, but I was able to finally find the printers from the laptop and print.

yea, once you get the printer properly shared....from the other computer. go to Start>Run> \\computernamewithprinters

It will show you the shares on that computer including folders and printers. Right click the printer and press Connect. Wallah!
