Not sure if this should be in the OS forum or not but here goes....

Howdy,

We currently print via a direct IP setup at work but we want to change to using a print server to make things easier. We have a box that we can load whatever OS on it we need to (probably has NT4 right now) that we want to use as a print server. The printers we have are mainly Xerox/Tektronix Phase 780s, Small Lexmark T612 and S1855s, and some big Canon 330/400s. Some of the printers have built in print servers but most do not and we don't have any way of tracking usage.

So, what software would we want to load onto the server to have it be our print server? It MUST keep logging info of who's printing what, when, how much, etc. I know nothing about making a Print Server so any info would be great.

I'm pretty sure we can do it without any extra software if we just wanted to use it for printing but since we also need logging capabilities, is there anything different we should do?
