Looking for network appliance/device that can be used as a print server. Currently all of our remote offices print direct to the IP address of the printer. We would like to find some type of device that would work with AD so our support group can assign the printer to the user ID in AD. Then also this device would work as print server to spool the print jobs and contain printer drivers all the printers.
Hopefully in return this would accomplish : our support group having to install network printers for people ( finding drivers , finding IP address etc) , allow users to print easily to any printer in our network , keep print traffic on the local lan and not go on the WAN.
fyi.. none of these sites have any type of regular file servers
