Print Layout View in MS Word incorrect

I have a long paper i'm typing and I typed it in "normal" layout

when i switch to "print layout" to edit the headers and footers and page numbers, all of a sudden some of my text has disappeared, particularly at the page transitions. Entire paragraphs do not show up. However, when i switch back to normal layout all the text is still there.

Any ideas?

thanks for the suggestion. but hmmm...seems to still be missing text if i zoom in. very weird

the problem here is obviously that i'm having trouble judging what the paper will look like printed out...because when the text is missing it messes up all the pages below it...
 
Is there any sort of blank spot in the print layout view where the text should be, or does it just go on to the next paragraph of text? If so, it could be a font formatting problem. If there are no blanks, check that the text has not been formatted as hidden or non-printing. Turn on the paragraph marks to see this problem. Also, check your printer settings, they can sometimes mess with the print layout and print preview functions. Have you tried printing the document to see how it comes out?

Just printed out the document and it looks fine. but it still does not show up properly in print preview or "print layout"

very strange

i turned on paragraph marks but don't see anything different about these few paragraphs versus others.

obviously, it must be some type of minor formatting issue.

Anyway, turned paper in electronically, so as long as it prints allright for my professor, i guess it's ok.
