I'm surprised there hasn't been a thread about this monitor. Are LCDs so cheap now that this isn't a good deal?? I first stumbled upon this at the store the other day, where it was $299, and I thought that was a damn good deal. Looked very nice IMO, although I'm no display expert. Looks pretty sweet too, IMO. Nice and trim, like the Dell.

DEAL IS GOOD THROUGH 8/20/06. This is online only. "Coupon" is applied at checkout, so not a MIR. Shipping is very decent: $15.55 to Northern Cali. But then there's the tax, so it came out to $301.15 shipped. Not too shabby.

Best of all, you get the legendary Costco warranty. That's right, you can take it back to the store and get a full refund PLUS the cost of shipping, merely for being "dissatisfied"!

i was just at costco and they had the same deal, so if your local costco carries the monitor you can cut out the shipping costs

And you can forget about warranty worries, Costco will take back 3 year old used tires. (actually had a friend do this with two tires, lmao)

Picked one of these up (B&M) today. It's a bit sharper at 1680x1050 (60Hz) than my Viewsonic VA902b was at 1280x1050 (75Hz).

The price was great. I paid $199 after rebate for the Viewsonic 4 months ago.

I hooked it up via DVI. The VS was hooked up VGA (the only option for it).

Just bought one of these and a 22" Acer costco is also selling at some locations. Here's my review of the two.
I caved and picked one up at my local costco, which was pretty difficult since they seem to be flying off the shelves. I had to drive 1hr. to find a costco that had it in stock and I got the last one. Yesturday, on my acer 22" costco adventure, I also picked up a 20"ws princeton (8ms)that costco had for $250, but mostly for comparison and a back up if i didn't find this acer. I have to say that for $250 bucks, the princeton is pretty nice and hard to beat for the price...but, its color reproduction is aweful, there is no depth of colors. BTW, I'm comparing these to my dearly beloved Viewsonic VP191b which is a great 19" with fantastic color ability(I think the VP191b is a 8bit panel, so keep that in mind when I mention the color abilities of these monitors). So the Princeton gets a C- for color accuracy, but teh Acer gets an A- or B+ and is far superior to the Princeton IMHO. I'd have to say the Acer is a tad bit sharper than the Princeton and equal with my Viewsonic. Ghosting is a nonissue on both, but was the tiniest bid apparant on my old viewsonic.

Gaming: Games look great on both, for color the Acer wins hands down. For Ghosting/shadowing(as i now call it, since its more like a tight shadow than a ghost) the Princeton wins but just barely and I doubt anyone but the most pickiest will notice(I am VERY picky with ghosting). Oblivion looks fantastic on the Acer and good on the princeton, GuildWars looks better on the Acer. BF2 looks WAY better on the Acer, period. BF2 colors are complimentary to the Acer's abilites. For some reason I noticed some grainy textures with the Princeton, but not with the Acer. I've never noticed this with any other monitor before so I'm at a loss as to what to call it.

CONCLUSION:

Both at 1680x1050, and no dead pixels, BTW. If all you got is 250 bucks and you just game, you'd be hard pressed to beat the Princeton on the Price/performance ratio. If you are color picky, like myself, you will have to spend a little more. IMO, the extra hundred it will cost you for the ACER 22" is well worth it. For that hundred bucks you get 19% more screen area, far better color reproduction ability, wider and taller screen, faster response time(5ms vs. 8ms, which I have to say is TOTALLY unnoticeable), and IMO a better all around monitor.
The princeton will be going back tomorrow and the Acer has a new home.
If you have any other questions, please ask them here in the forum and I'll try to get back to you.

Costco website says: "We're sorry, this product is not available.11135967"

So sad. But BUMP for hotness. Gonna call the local store and see if I can still get in.

I went to the costco.com site to look for it about an hour ago and I couldn't find it either.

At least I was able to get one for me.

ptjoshua-in my experience grainy textures, all things being equal means that your gamma needs adjustin', could be why the princeton faired so much worse in your color testing.

The 20" Sceptre is still up if this one dies somehow, similar specs (contrast ratio is a bit subjective according to wikipedia) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824112176 Though they raised the price by $10, so $289 - $30MIR + 17ship=$276

I tried lowering the gamma, raising, tried tweaking every way I could think of, dont get me wrong, for 250 you cant beat it, and a 40% increase in price to 350 for a "hard to find" acer 22" is fiscally more than some budgets can handle, but still worth the jump IMO. After gaming with the two lcds i think the Princeton may be faster than the acer even though the princeton is rated at 8ms and the acer is at 5ms.
