I don't get it.

Edit: Googled. So it's that Dave Chapelle comedian on the cover. I thought Prince looked different. Still don't know what this has to do with the Internet.

I miss that goddamned show. :(

In retrospect, it's probably good that it ended when it did. Those supposed "lost episodes" weren't that great and one can only imagine that recapturing the magic of those first 2 seasons would have been nearly impossible.

I think Chapelle realized this and did his staged freakout and dramatic exile because the only other option was to suffer putting out comparatively shitty content.

We're left with something that will always remain fresh and brilliant, with no distasteful stain of "those bad years" like the rest of US television.

They're lost episodes because they didn't air. They didn't air because they weren't that good.

After the star quit and the show was cancelled.

They're sketches that the writers knew were crappy, so they were tucked away.

well, yeah, that is exactly my point. what they had going for the next season was bad enough that Chapelle freaked out and realized it would all be a disaster. He created that drama just to save his reputation and decided to exile himself.

....at least, that's how I like to think about it...

No, he decided they weren't paying him enough and then flipped out and did some missionary work in Africa I think.

He says he was happy with the way things were. Family was good, career was good. They were trying to tempt him into a weird, committed contract with a bunch of money he didn't think he really needed to provide for his family and be happy.

All in all the pressure of it got to him and he went nuts.

He explains in detail in Inside the actors studio.

I know that story. this why I mentioned several time in my posts "he created drama," and "that's what I like to think."

....I think we're speaking on different levels here. :p

Oh, but it was never about not being paid enough--that fat contract was something like 5x what anyone else on CC was making at the time, including John Stewert. It was a record contract and I think he said several times that if anything, it was too much.
