Prince of Persia Movie

Last spring (04) they announced that Jerry Bruckheimer was looking to develop the Prince of Persia game series into a movie of some sort. That's basically the last I heard of it, and everything I can find online looks to be that old as well.

Anybody hear anything more current about the status of it? I think they could make a really decent movie out of it, something along the lines of Pirates of the Caribbean but old school Arabian Nights almost.

Hmm, if they do it right it'll be good. Video game movies are always like that, they gotta be made right. Hmm I can't think of one that has every really been good.

The first Resident Evil and Mortal Kombat movies weren't great, but they were far from sucking.

There's also been rumors that there's going to be a Max Payne movie (not much of a stretch, so much of the game is movie-like already), a Deus Ex movie, and possibly a Thief movie.

Almost like game developers are making games based on their movie marketability.

BTW here's a list of movies (according to Wiki) that have been or in the process of being made based on video games. Obviously not complete, but a good idea. Only ones in there that look halfway decent, are the ones that haven't been made

The first Mortal Kombat movie was pretty cool, but I was in junior high then. I haven't seen it since.

I haven't seen Resident Evil.

But somehow, I sincerely doubt that either of these movies had any serious merit. However -- it is possible to enjoy a movie that possesses no serious merit. For example, the TMNT series. It's funny reading reviews for those movies. It's as if the reviewers thought the movies were supposed to be serious film!

Ah yes, Final Fantasy. I honestly cannot remember ANYTHING from that movie.

That is not a good sign. My memory is fine, by the way.

A Max Payne movie would be sweet, I really got into the story of that game. But I dunno about the bullet time...combine that with that kinda story and you got some weird Matrix/Punisher bastard child.

Tomb Raider was nice. Angelina Jolie made it nicer!

The original prince of persia played like a movie, I don't see any reason to make it into one (somewhat redundant).

It's being written by John August, who is a very good screenwriter-- so at least the movie has that going for it.
