Picked up a few copies today. I actually own Prince of Perisa. I figure I'll give the rest to the guy at EB tat hooks me up with shirts and stuff for him to hand out. There may be others - these were the ones that my local Best Buy had (Fredericksburg, VA.) There are still plenty there.

I think BB does this when they get rid of guides, calendars, etc. I'm not sure why they don't just destroy the guides, but they sometimes just leave them on the shelves with a .01 price tag. Who am I to complain about it?!? :)

Clearly YMMV. I mean, is this a company-wide decision to make the guides for these 3 VERY NEW games one cent? Please do correct me if I am wrong and I will head over to BB immediately.

It's not YMMV. It's company wide reductions. The YMMV part is thinking someone can walk in and grab 20 of these .01 guides and proceed to the checkout to sell on ebay without the cashier hesitating.

If you buy a few things with the guide the cashier usually doesn't flinch.

BB does this from time to time. The .01 price indicates that they are clearing them out but sometimes they are guides for relatively new games. Doesn't make sense.

Cashier just said "Wow - only a penny?!?" ad rang everything up and shoved it in the bag. And she was cute, to - BONUS!

This has been going on for a while now. Both CAG & VGTALK(the link in my sig) have reports on this. VG is updated daily by our loyal members, along with any other deals we may see. I suggest you all should join our little community & help keep your money where it should be. In your pocket.:)

Actually, I think it may be better tax wise if they destry it... at least that's what Microcenter seems to think. They won't even let their own employees take equiptment that is to be destroyed; the stuff is smashed and put in the dumpster.

Now to a something good, Ijust picked up the Max Payne 2 manual for $0.01. :D

Yeah, same with OfficeMax. It hurt to knowingly destroy hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise :-(

Tried my local Best Buy, no luck - just had the newer guides (like FFX2).

Generally. And this one is. I went in today and picked up a few of each. They only had 1 of PoP guide which was dissapointing, but oh well.

Yep it DOES WORK! Just take it up to register, rings up 1 cent. If it didn't work, I was prepared to tell the cashier that I thought it was on sale and it wasn't so I didn't want it. But it rang up for 1 cent each! WOOT!
