Go Harry.

The deployment had been cloaked in secrecy under a news blackout deal agreed across the UK media to prevent details reaching the Taliban and endangering Harry and his comrades.

But the arrangement broke down today after news was leaked out on the US website the Drudge Report.

I never thought I'd find myself saying thank God for Drudge. The infamous US blogger has broken the best kept editorial secret of recent times. Editors have been sworn to secrecy over Prince Harry being sent to fight in Afghanistan three months ago. Drudge has blown their cover. One wonders whether viewers, readers and listeners will ever want to trust media bosses again. Or perhaps this was a courageous editorial decision to protect this fine young man? And one wonders too what extra lengths British squaddies have had to go to make absolutely certain he doesn't get shot in Helmand province. A gorgeously contentious issue on at 7 at 4. And how often can you say that about members of the Royal family?

I thought that this info came out a while ago?

There was info that leaked out that he was being deployed. Harry was then not deployed for fear of making him a target. Now they deployed him in secret and he's been there for all but 2-3 weeks of his deployment.

This is an interesting situation. There was no need for Drudge to reveal his status and location. By doing so they are damn near certain to get people from his unit killed. So is DR now responsible for murder?

They'll likely remove Harry from the front lines. DR won't be entirely responsible since Harry made the decision to risk himself on his own, but -1 for selfish journalists.

those other dudes are wearing helmets, how can you tell how long their hair is?

I thought it was military rules that you have to have your hair a certain length..

yes , but his hair in that picture would be close, but still in spec for most services
in a war zone, if they have no barber services, they have to cut each others hair, so they probably let it slide a bit more than usual

Yeah, this is defintaly pretty shafty. It's not like the government is trying to hide something that sketchy, they are just trying to protect Harry and his comrads, no need for the public to know where he is deployed to.

Don't they realize they just endangered the kid's life? Not to mention his team.

Same thing as pushing someone into a fire. If someone did that to me, they'd get a very personal ass kicking.

fuck the DR. Sure, it may sound nice to report something that people would like to hear, but seriously... they just endangered the life of a VIP. It's that VIP's wishes to fight, and let him... goddamn proud of that Brit for risking his royal life and go to war... but he still deserves the protection of the enemy not knowing who he is. Everyone else pretty much enjoys that secrecy. The idea of a soldier, in war... is to be a unit, not a name. He is merely being a soldier, and sounds like a good one at that.
And by detailing his whereabouts, his life isn't the only one threatened, the many men around him are equally endangered. Fuckin US media has fucked up the wars enough as it is.
