A recuiter from Primerica contacted me and set up an apointment, but I am not sure what the job is. I tried reading more into it, is it some pyrmid scheme? I don't understand how this "employment" works.

The company was formerly A.L. Williams. Do some research, as you might not like what you find. They have been known to use some undermining sales tactics, which border on unethical.

I'm not *completely* certain of how things break down, but it's basically an insurance and credit consolidation program. You are essentially doing door to door sales of insurance and credit consolidation programs. You get a commission on the products you sell.

It's not a pyramid scheme in the sense that you never make money. Because you do. It's just that you have to work 90+ hours a week at less than mimimum wage for several years until you actually start making real money in the deal. By that time you are probably frustrated and give up.

It's certainly not something that will springboard you into immediate wealth. With a ton of work and excellent social networking you can do very well. But if you aren't willing to put the time into it, and do not have very good resources, you will quickly get frustrated of the hours and lack of income.

They tried recruiting myself and a friend of mine. Just what we learned when doing our research.

My father has been a life ins agent with a very reputable company for the past 40+ years. He used to tell me about their tacky tactics all the time. Yup, kind of the amway of the insurance industry, I agree.

BTW, if you are genuinely interested in financial planning services, there are much more reputable companies you could work for.

I was contacted by a Primerica recrutier a few years ago. THey wanted the names, adresses and phone numbers to 10 of my friends and family when I went to the interview. Then they told me that I had to pay for the training. I pushed back and told them if they were a reputable company that they would pay for the training. Then they said that they would pay for the training up front and I could pay them later. I got got up an left at that point and the a$$hole ask if he could have list of names.
