Primer site that explains installing vid drivers & DirectX for newbie?

I know y'all have some favorite sites and would know which would be good and very explanatory (walk-thru). This is for my nephew. STB TNT 16MB AGP card, W98SE, BX mobo, Cel366@454. I believe when I installed it, I just used the old STB drivers. I want to get him on the reference drivers, and, want to get him up to DirectX 7.*. BUT, I won't be there to do it, so he's gotta learn.

Any suggestion on a good version of reference drivers to install for this POS card?

Do you also suggest a version of DX 7? I'm thinking 7.0 had a problem?
