I don't think either of my ponies running right now will make it in before the end of the race :(

Yeah I've got a bunch running that will report ~2 hours after the race ends.

Also have 1 Stallion WU still running that won't make it until maybe 10 hours after the race. It has been running since the beginning on a GTX 460, which should have ended in time just fine, but I didn't realize until yesterday that at some point it must have rebooted or something which caused Folding@Home to startup and was using the GPU. I corrected the issue but it's only at 96% so I really don't think it will finish in time.

VirtualLarry- it definitely sounds like your PC may have been overheating and rebooting. I also know at least with GPU WU's if it encounters an error it pauses for several minutes(I think 10) to allow your GPU to cool down, so it may do that with CPU WU's as well. My 1090t at stock which is not much faster than your 1045t turned in the WU's a couple days ago.

And my 3.2 GHz Phenom II (X3 unlocked X4) took 240-some hours to complete its WUs.

That 1045 should've been able to complete at least 6.

About 30 minutes left. Flush 'em if you got 'em.

And, remember, after the race all results will need to be verified before the scores are final. So if they're not done, please either complete them or abort them so that someone else can complete them.

The race is over! (It was over an hour ago, but I was too busy to notice. :$)

Well, we didn't wind up 7th, but without any of our WUs, we would have been 10th! Furthermore, if none of our WUs are invalidated, and just one DPC WU is, we'll be 8th! :) But I'm a little worried because I saw one of Icecold's pony WUs get invalidated the other day. :\

We're much more secure in 7th place here. :) It'll be interesting who gets 8th and who gets 9th, though.

Also, all users who rank 300th or better get some personal race credit this year. So everyone who participated in either race this time will probably get credit :) ...except VirtualLarry. :(

That's definitely a valid concern, I've had 2 of the Pony WUs marked invalid. Nothing was overclocked(in fact had all the video cards underclocked a bit), but these GFN WU's seem pretty brutal on hardware.

Great job all!

Thanks for all the stats Ken_g6 and zzuupp! :)

Looks like our friends at EVGA held off the Russians!

Aw shucks, for a minute there I thought that 7th spot in the WR race was ours. Oh well, it was good fun regardless.

Thanks for keeping stats throughout, Ken_g6.

Thanks for the stats, ken_g6 :)

The double/dual race made for double the fun!

PS: the next race is in 41+ days, March 1-16 "Double Top Secret Mystery Challenge" and is CPU only ... doing SoB ... long WUs.

I guess at this point in time, the only proper thing to do if I want to continue in races, is to ditch all of my slow, crappy, buggy, AMD gear.

Any idea how fast of a machine will be needed to complete the SoB WU's within the duration of the challenge?

I'm hoping Core2Quad / Phenom II era machines will, but with 41 days until that challenge I suppose I can run some and find out.

If you can get it to run stable that 1045t you have is still a decent processor. My 4770k(which I only have due to getting a great deal, I normally run older tech) managed to do 8 WU's total in the race, my 1090t did 6 and probably would have done 8 or 9 if I had 'juggled' the WU's.

The low clock speed of the 1045T makes it useless for races with long WU. Your 1090T, and someones Phenom II @ 3.2 are both clocked significantly higher than the 2.7 mine is clocked at.

Btw, it was running stable, running the CPU WUs it never rebooted.

Edit: I think the CPU fan has been stopping, for some reason. I had HWMonitor open, and all 6 cores had a max of 85C, and CPU fan RPM had a min of 0. So I think the fan stops, sometimes.

Edit: I took the cooler off. The cooler is an OCZ Vendetta. The fan was "stiff" to turn with my fingers. Guess the bearing was either dried out, or caked with dust. The fins had some dust on them, but it wasn't entirely clogged. I changed out for a stock AMD heatsink for now, and took the Thuban rig out of service.

There must be some other factor then, maybe ram speed?

My machine that had the GTX 460 in it has a stock speed(1.6GHz) Celeron E1200 and DDR2 ram in it, and I ran a CPU WU on it during the race and it ended right after the race(within a few hours). Had I started that machine when the race began, it would have finished during the race.

My 1090t took 1,009,662.05 seconds(280.46 hours) to finish a WU(the other 5 WU's were about the same) while also running GPU WU's. Even accounting for a 20% clock speed difference by adding 20% on top of that, it would have taken 336.5 hours which would have been done well before the race finished.

I'm about to run a SoB WU on a few machines to see what is viable for the next race and will keep everybody informed.

I finally found my bad WUs tracking spreadsheet, so I can now do cleanup stats, day 3:

Stallion:
6_____14361012___BOINC@MIXI (-0, ~0 bad WUs)
7_____11238277___Ukraine (-0, ~0 bad WUs)
8_____10061389___Dutch Power Cows (-0, ~0 bad WUs)
9_____9354195____Overclock.net (-0, ~0 bad WUs)
10____9328774____TeAm AnandTech (-387146, ~1 bad WUs)
11____7383790____BOINC.Italy (-0, ~0 bad WUs)
12____6970582____PrimeSearchTeam (-0, ~0 bad WUs)

As noted by Plimogz, we lost one, and thus one rank. :( But we're not likely to drop past 10th, and OCN could lose some too.

Pony:
4_____33391742___Team 2ch (-150577, ~5 bad WUs)
5_____27126295___BOINC@MIXI (-60087, ~2 bad WUs)
6_____25937959___Aggie The Pew (-30114, ~1 bad WUs)
7_____16594655___TeAm AnandTech (-60300, ~2 bad WUs)
8_____15290094___Crunching@EVGA (-60484, ~2 bad WUs)
9_____15082447___Russia (-0, ~0 bad WUs)
10____13308647___Dutch Power Cows (-30160, ~1 bad WUs)

We lost some, but we're about average. I guess those cold Russian winters help. ;) So far, we're not in much danger here. If this rate holds for the Stallion work, though - and it might because verification for the Stallion work takes a lot longer - I expect more shakeups to come there.

Looks like the two bad Pony WUs were mine, sorry :(
I had it underclocked by 50 at 750 with temps around 60C (I usually run it at 880 with temps up to 80C on some projects)

The worse news is that I still have six more WUs from that GPU that are not validated yet! It might be a long while until they get validated ... I looked at them and they each have like at least a dozen "Error while computing" results from other users.
Good new is there are 24 validated good WUs from that GPU.

I hear the cleanup is probably going to take a few months, so I'm going to pace myself to trying to do stats just once a week.

Stallion:
6_____14337366___Keep The Fire Alive! (-386543, ~1 bad WUs)
7_____11238277___Ukraine (-0, ~0 bad WUs)
8_____10061389___Dutch Power Cows (-0, ~0 bad WUs)
9_____9354195____Overclock.net (-0, ~0 bad WUs)
10____9328774____TeAm AnandTech (-387146, ~1 bad WUs)
11____7383790____BOINC.Italy (-0, ~0 bad WUs)
12____6970582____PrimeSearchTeam (-0, ~0 bad WUs)

Well, we aren't the only ones who have fallen. Keep The Fire Alive! has fallen from an unknown position edit: 5th - at least on my browser-cached copy of the stats on the 21st - to behind BOINC@MIXI. I expect more surprises.

4_____33301671___Team 2ch (-240648, ~8 bad WUs)
5_____27126295___BOINC@MIXI (-60087, ~2 bad WUs)
6_____25937959___Aggie The Pew (-30114, ~1 bad WUs)
7_____16534355___TeAm AnandTech (-120600, ~4 bad WUs)
8_____15259870___Crunching@EVGA (-90708, ~3 bad WUs)
9_____15082447___Russia (-0, ~0 bad WUs)
10____13248040___Dutch Power Cows (-90767, ~3 bad WUs)

Russia's perfect streak continues! But aside from maybe EVGA, I don't expect anyone to lose enough WUs to lose a position here.
