@deerslayer, it might have been stuck in the validator before getting to the race stats. WUs don't have to be validated to get stats in the race, but will have to be validated before you get BOINC credit. And if the WU is declared invalid, it will be removed from the race stats.

I didn't see Lane42 coming. Must be an express lane. ;) But we're now 7th - I guess people doing Stallion work and other people starting to return slower GPU work might both contribute.

Thanks for the stats Ken.

Thanks for clearing up the confusion on my wus. I'll get this stuff figured out eventually.

Thanks for the stats Ken g6 :)

Getting a lot of "error while computing" on my amd 1055t with the gtx580 and 780.
Backed off on the overclocks and tried both opencl and cuda workunits. Might put
this back on Seti for now.

I had problems with my 660Ti and the 780Ti with the long WUs. The 660Ti is paired with my 2600K and is linux only so my only option was to run the pony WUs since I can't control clock speeds in linux. The 780Ti is paired with my 3930K and all the WUs failed under linux so I rebooted into Windows where some WUs failed. What worked with the 780Ti is to manually set the fan to 65% so the GPU temp is steady at 74C. Factory settings let the GPU temp reach 82C by automatically controlling fan speed. I guess I could set the temp target to a lower value and achieve the same result but I haven't tried that yet.

I'm having the same issue with my 4770k, but in re-reading the primegrid specs I think it's because I'm running an older version of Windows. What version of Windows(including service pack) are you running? I'm about to try Linux and will report back in 30 minutes or so.

EDIT: it's running fine on Linux and automatically received the AVX WU's.
I'm running pre-SP1 Win7 64.

Never bothered to get the service packs as the machine just runs DC, plus I was considering just doing the upgrade to Win8. I keep forgetting (i.e. am too lazy) to do it, and when I think about doing it, it's usually it's after a challenge has started already and i don't want to interrupt the machine to do the update. :p Maybe I will try to do it after this challenge.

Yeah that's what my issue was, I re-read the information and it says that AVX(or at least AVX for primegrid) only works if you have SP1 installed. It may be worth it to take the machine down once your current tasks are done and update it, as I seem to be getting roughly 40% better performance out of having AVX vs SSSE3. I opted just to install Linux on there instead as I had been planning to do that for some time, and it took less time than updating to SP1 would have.

Brought the clocks down more on my gtx780 and it seems ok now.
it would error out workunits even at factory o/c settings-Ken g6 warned us :D

Day 3 stats:

Still no Stallion work from anyone on the TeAm. Some people with Titans have results, but not many yet.

We're hangin' in there. Glad you're getting your 780s worked out. I think now that new GPUs aren't coming out as fast as they used to, the companies have decided to release their GPUs in two waves: stable speeds at first, then slightly unstable speeds six months later.

72 hours and 60% done on my 7950! Wow these long WUs are boring ... I usually have more stats to follow.

Thanks for the stats, ken_g6 :)

I'm still crunching six.. *cough* CPU WUs. Sorry I couldn't get my GPUs running, I guess the PrimeGrid OpenCL code wasn't adapted to GCN 1.1 cards yet. (Anyone crunching this on a R9 290 or 290x?)

Thanks for the the stats Ken g6!

**

My 7950 Stallion WUs are barely 30% done :(. I finally gave up and reset the clocks to stock because even a 100 Mhz clock drop, a slight voltage bump over what was good enough for the previously 'stable' clocks and setting the fan speed to jet engine didn't get it done. The last straw was having one fail at about 25% progress when it had been running on the cooler lower card, using the more conservative slower & louder settings.

Now, I'm thinking of using these Primegrid tasks to find a solid double-precision overclock after the race is over. I'd love to know if there's a way to run this kind of thing offline so as to not recklessly report erroneous WUs to the project (similar to how Prime95 had a test option)

In the meantime however, I'm surprised by how little of a difference there is in stderr.txt's ETAs between OC'd and stock speeds. A 25% decrease in core frequency has barely increased the ETA by 5%. I figure that it must either be that the bottleneck isn't core speed or that errors can slow things down even before they get logged (to stderr.txt at least) and long before the task self-aborts or the result finally turns out to be invalid after being reported and checked.

That's why I chose the pony race. I don't like waiting so long to see results. I'm way too impatient for that.

Seems it needs an app_info.xml file for now. I think I heard they'll try to get them working after this race - doing it in the middle of this race could cause the server to crash.

Here's an app_info.xml for you. But be careful installing it - it might prevent CPU work from getting done, or it might abort your current CPU work.

Should have a little bump in production. I got my 560TI yesterday. She's crunching away. Estimated time (per the text file) is 16 hours. Way better than my 7770 @ almost 30 hours.

Congrats on the new card!

Don't your WUs count for the race using the anonymous platform app? I don't see you in the race stats.

The two regulars were pre-race. The WR will be the first eligible task.

It looks like zzuupp is the first one to finish a WR WU! EDIT: missed your post. Congrats! :)

I have one on my GTX570 that's 85% complete and one on a GTX460 that's only 45% complete.

Thanks for the stats Ken_g6!

I had to reduce the clock on my 780Ti.

Odd that the time to completion only went up about 8 minutes at the start of a new WU.

Estimated total run time for 318642^1048576+1 is 6:14:26

My WR WU should finish within ten hours. I could finish another and then switch that video card to the Pony race. Or I could switch today.

Which would be best for the TeAm? Place better in Pony or make a poor showing in both? Or am I thinking wrong?
