What made you change besides the massive difference in power consumption and noise? Hah. Actually, that probably would have been enough for me to make that switch

Well actually the HD6970 consumes almost the same power as a stock GTX470. Also, both cards never exceeded 78*C at stock speeds. However, the GTX470 was much louder under load (so when running DC projects, that can be a major disadvantage). Also, I just felt like playing with new hardware and getting faster performance in F1 2010 and Crysis / Crysis Warhead games. Overclocked, the GTX470 was pretty close to the HD6970 though in a lot of games, but in overclocked state, that's when the noise was a real issue for me. With HD6970, I got GTX470 overclocked performance, minus the noise. It cost me less to upgrade than to get an aftermarket cooler for the 470, so I figured why not.

Ha - multiple dual GTX 590's. Make it rain man, make it rain...

I also get a kick out of the 3700+ (single core, possibly S754) running a GTX 580 Only for distributed computing does that make any kind of sense at all...

Those are 3GB GTX 580's to boot. :awe:

I've got 2 GTX460s and 1 GTX295 (dual gpus on single piece of silicon)

It looks like the GTX295 is equivalent to 1 GTX460

Yes, it crunches 2 WUs at the same time so Bionc thinks I have 2 gpus in that machine. I suspect it draws a ton of power but it's keeping my feet nice and toasty while I type.

Given that we're among the usual suspects, I think GPU races tend to bring out the heavy hitters. As such, we did quite well. I don't know our final rankings for sure, but given we're so close to BOINC@Poland, I expect we'll end up 10th or so. Good race, all, and good racing season! See you next year!
