The only nvidia card I had was a 210 so i guess I didn't do too bad considering I just had to leave the boxes on and crunching since I wasn't home for the weekend or half of monday...I didn't have time to install cuda drivers on my ubuntu rig that has a 9800gt. Is there an easy way to do this? I know someone has described how to do it before but I never got around to it. I don't know if this would help though as I saw no option in the boinc client on that rig for graphics card properties.

Ever worked with the command line? With one of the virtual terminals? Here's how to install nVIDIA drivers using them:

  1. Press Ctrl-Alt-F2 to get a virtual terminal. (Press Ctrl-Alt-F7 to get back if you get lost.)
  2. Log in.
  3. Run "sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop". (After this you can't use Ctrl-Alt-F7 for awhile.)
  4. Run the nVIDIA installer with sudo. It should guide you through the installation process.
  5. Run "sudo /etc/init.d/gdm start". Your graphical desktop should reappear. :)

Oh, and to get BOINC updated to see the GPU, download and run the latest version in a temp directory; then stop boinc (/etc/init.d/boinc-client), copy the executables over the ones in /usr/bin with sudo, and start boinc again.

Thanks for the stats, Ken_g6! Yeah, it was a good race, but my 4-core 8 threads computers could not help ... Let us see what the stats will be when all is validated! :)
