Maybe a stupid question as I quite honestly haven't been keeping up with technology... Would changing my i5s to run as a single processor at this point rather than 4 processors help push one of two of my in process WUs through? Meaning, would it process one WU 4 times faster?
Certainly not that much. A Core 2 Quad can get a small boost (10-15%) on one or two WUs, at the expense of doing any work on any others, by not running all four cores at once. That's from RAM bandwidth. If there's any effect at all on modern i5s, it's smaller than that.
