Yikes!

This is tomorrow :)

Yeah, I can't seem to change the title name. :\ But I've got two or three machines ready. (Depending on how hot the weather gets.)

And we're off! (Starting half an hour ago.)

Edit: A couple of things I notice:

- This makes my Sandy Bridge laptop really hot! 5C hotter than PPSE LLR did! So watch your temperatures.
- At this rate, my Sandy Bridge laptop (with 2 cores) may do as much as my two older computers (with a total of 6 cores) combined! I guess AVX really helps in this race.

Oh, wait, that means nobody else on the TeAm is running anything faster than a ~2.6GHz Sandy Bridge laptop. :(

Did everybody miss that the race has started because I can't change the thread title? Are you all saving power because it's too hot to crunch?

I got started on time, about 1:10.

But I forgot how much more vcore I needed to add to the lowered down to 4.0 overclock. The comp BSODed and I lost 2 hours 20 minutes :(
Also, I left HT on (for the video cards) so WUs will take twice as long. Should turn in seven in about two hours!

Better nate than lever.

I had lowered my queue last night, but I am guilty of horrible math this morning. The c2q started kinda close to on time at least.

I had a PrimeGrid "Prime Serpinkski Problem" WU that was crunching before the race, which I suspended after the race started. I was able to get a few race WUs, but then as they were finishing, it won't get more, unless I manually un-suspend that prior WU, then it fetches new work, then I have to suspend it again.

BOINC bug, or just coincidence? Is there a shortage of the race WUs?

Twice I've woken up the monitor, and found BOINC crunching a single race WU, with no more fetched. I have NCPUS = 2, on an i3-3240, which means that the other core is idle.

That's just the way BOINC works. You can't fetch work for a project while any of its tasks are suspended. I suggest you set your buffer for a few days, unsuspend that task, and then suspend it again once you have enough work. (For the rest of the race, I mean.)

That's the way BOINC works for most projects.

There are some projects that will get WUs even if you have suspended WUs from that same project!

There is even at least one project that can't decide how to behave - sometimes it will and sometimes it won't

Hey, we're ahead of BOINCstats! By about one WU! Every one counts, after all. :)

Myself I'm barely staying ahead of Geecee. No new racers, but everyone seems to be racing well.

It's looking like quite a battle for fourth place on the TeAm. I've stayed ahead of geecee, but not Joe or zzuupp.

We've passed BOINCstats and we're now creeping closer to The Knights Who Say Ni! Can we make them The Knights Who Say Nooooooo! again?

Edit: I just took my laptop down to the basement. It's cool enough down there that it can run 300MHz faster! So the race for fourth goes on!

A little dump from zzuupp and just like that we're in 18th place. :) And I'm back in 6th. :\ Well, I don't think I'm catching Joe, but we'll see who winds up in fifth. :sneaky:

We beat Nemesis Germany by one WU!

And zzuupp beat me by the same one WU! :( I juggled one place and gained one or two WUs; juggled another and lost one. These WU lengths were hard to predict. But at least now I know how to run my laptop optimally. :)

The next race will be a sieve, so I'll start a new thread for it, in August. Until then I'll let you know if any adjustments change scoring positions in this race in this thread.

We're back to LLR races! I was going to make a new thread, but work has been crazy the last couple of weeks. Both for me and, separately, for the PrimeGrid admins! Hopefully, that's all over for the PrimeGrid admins and the race will go smoothly. My work may continue to be crazy for a couple of weeks. :\

Thanks for bumping this ken. Winter heating season is back here in northern wi, so I can turn my cruncher/ space heater back on. I'll crack it open, clean out the heat sink and be ready for some llc.
