I thought for awhile that Tony might have some competition! Well, maybe not. :D

It's hot, so I'm only running this race on the two machines that happen to be both fastest and coolest.

I allowed full queues on each machine and when they're out, they're out.

One machine was abnormally slow, only did one round on it.

AVX cooks my overclocked i7-5820, so no tasks from Mjolnir either.

My output will dwindle then stop, prior to race's end, most likely.

Thanks for the stats Ken!

Unfortunately I care a bit too much of my power bill so, my server will only be processing units when I am using it, otherwise its off. But my laptop hardly makes a dent in power so that will be processing always unless I am playing a CPU intensive game. :)

I expect we're not as fast as some other teams with Tony out of work. The question is, can we stay ahead of those that are so far far behind us?

I've never seen a team of "Christians" before. :hmm:

I just brought this server into the mix, as I am paying for it but its not running anything might as well put it into the race.
WUSS version 0.5
It has about 500 units in progress now.

Edit: well apparently a hard drive failed. I had to get the guys over at the datacenter to replace the hard drive but I lost all the work from my linux box. Switched to windows as they don't have linux install disc.......

Yes I realized that I had some incorrect units, but being in Australia BOINC manager tends to not work correctly, and boinctasks tends to freeze, so I'll just have to do them, its not alot, once I realized

I had to back off one of my boxes this morning. The heat is no bueno. :( I had turned on two more boxes that I had taken offline for the season for the Pentathlon, and figured I'd keep them running through the Solstice race, but the CPU temps in one (via HW Monitor) were hitting high 80s-90C. Tried turning off HT, but temps were still high (low-80s), so I have backed off to just two cores (no HT). Temps have leveled off in the 70s C now. That's on an Ivy Bridge i7-3770 (no K). Ambient house temp is in the mid 70s F. In the fall/winter, when the house temp is about 10F cooler, it usually tops out around where it is now with all cores. I know these cores can run pretty hot, but high 80s-90 C seems a bit extreme to me.

My Sandy Bridge i7-2700k has been plugging away with temps in the 50s-60s C, and that's with HT on and mildly OC-ed. The 3770 is in a pre-built HP box though, and the 2700K is in a box I built with much better cooling.

My server is colocated in New York, whilst I am all the way here in Sydney :(

Try ThrottleStop. You can turn down the CPU speed without turning off extra cores. Four slightly slow cores are usually better than two full-speed ones.

We are so close to 2chan. I didn't notice yesterday, but Michael is providing a lot of that power! Does he post here?

And I'm so close to waffleironhead.

THere a trick here? I have a twin Xeon 5360 and 8 cores with 8GB mem and a Q6600 with 3GB, both running WIndows 10, and I'm not happy with the results Im getting. I have all 12 cores going.

Those are both core 2 generation. AVX makes a huge difference! Memory bandwidth also helps. My i3 6100 with fast RAM is doing 2 wus in less than an hour.

Ok, ok, so I'm late to the race. Sorry team.

Got one G4400 @ 4.455Ghz on it, on both cores. Hopefully this new PG app doesn't burn anything out.

Being able to use AVX is like being able to run the same CPU task on a very very weak GPU: Half, maybe 1/3rd of the time required. BumbleBee takes 5 hours where my older workstations take 8-12 hours.

Yep! My leased E3-1230 v3 is churning tasks out at a rate of 1.5-2 hrs per WU. My E5345 is doing them at 5 hrs per WU. And my laptop is somewhere between 2 and 5 hours.

You beat me by 5 minutes! I blame Ryan Smith for making me change my password. :p

Dangit, waffleironhead, how do you keep beating me? I'm going to have to turn on another computer or two for the end of the race. :colbert:

Also, Tony, did you notice who's on top for the TeAm now?

Pick up the pace? Heck I'm picking up bits of glass from where Michael shot by so fast the vacuum of his wake caused my house to explode!

I went up 80k, he DOUBLED (nearly) his previous score of 263k!!! D: :thumbsup::thumbsup:

I've gained 27k, so if my server doesn't go down because its really hot, I should have 40WU in the pipeline

EDIT: I can't see Michael's computers, we'll have to see if there some invalids. I have 23 pending that I am not so sure about, my server outheated during that period of time. :(

And, thanks to a huge blast from Michael, we jumped 3 spots! Wow, thanks, Michael!

If not for Michael we would have been battling Christians for 10th place. Which I also didn't expect. But, then...
