Ah, well your AMD X6 is listed twice.
My mistake.

I wish you had two tho....:)

Go TeAm AnandTech!

Looks like this app does well on Intel CPUs. My Q6600s@3GHz are just as fast as my x6@3.6GHz.:(

We're neck and neck with KWSN again! Go TeAm!!

Well I'm about to go home so I can add 12-14 more cores depending on stability issues and outside temperature ^^.

With 1/4 of the race already behind us, we're holding 11th place behind KWSN, the same team we barely passed in the last challenge. Most of us are in our customary TeAm ranks :); but I haven't seen zzuupp yet.

my one rig has had a hard drive failure. I have tried runing ubuntu via cd but for some reason i get the ole "sophie germain prime search not available for your type of computer message. I have another rig on 64 bit ubuntu running fine via hard drive so I assume this is an issue with running the os off the optical drive?

You could try a Boot cd from the hard drive maker
Sometimes you can get a bit more life out of them by useing the repair option.

WD and Seagate i have used before and some will come back, and others not so much. :p

Filibusterman, try Wubi. It installs Ubuntu on a Windows machine without requiring a new partition. (Though it does take disk space.)

I'm far from a linux expert, But:

Bonic needs space to store it's WU's

So if you can boot from a USB stick, or external hard drive
something with a bit of space for bonic to have a little room, it should run.

Did this work for you?

I tried once to install on an external 120 gig WD elements usb hard drive and it seemed to work but the install corrupted or maybe I set up the partitions incorrectly. As it was late and I was getting nagged by the Gf I couldn't get that rig up and running :( although it was only an opteron 1210 1.8ghz. I just need to find an el cheepo hard drive for that rig that is reliable. Come on black friday!

With only 13 of us representing the TeAm, I don't think we have done bad at all.

I don't know the number of active members of TeAm AnandTech, but i am guessing that 13 is way less than 20% of the Active membership.

Maybe the fault is ours, not preping better for the race, asking other members to join for the sence of team pride.

Or they just don't care.:)

The Ukraine seemed to be sandbagging a bit, there very close to getting 10th place now. They went by us like the Road Runner/Coyote in the Cartoons.

My guess of OC virtual cores helping, was misplaced.
Physical cores make the differance. Tho i am up with 4 machines raceing with guys that have 10 to 16 machines. I was slowly looseing Spots all race long.

My wife complains about the 4 running, They all must be bachelor's....LOL

Thus ends my rambling of various thoughs about this race.......:)

Go TeAm AnandTech!

I agree with the virtual core or HT issue. Ill have to do the math but my i5 661 which is OC to 4.2 or so was doing ~16min and change per wu (4 units with dual core HT) while this mac with an E7600@3GHz was doing 2 wu at 11.30min per core. I would have to down clock the 661 to around stock to see how the two compare but I am guessing the gains from virtual cores is pretty small. However for gaming I would rather have my dual core i5 than a slower quad so its always a compromise.

I'm going to run out my cash of WU's and not abort them.
Good for you! As this is a race where work needs to be verified, everyone should do one or the other. This also means that the stats above aren't final; though the work goes so fast that this race should be finalized in a few days.

Well, we got sandbagged, and some of us got a late start; but 12th place ain't bad! And, hey, we beat all of China! ;)

If you liked this race, please consider donating to the PrimeGrid Donation Drive 2010 Fall, so we can have more races like it next year. 'Tis the season!

If you didn't like this race, just wait - the next race is going to be very different! The Winter Solstice Challenge, as always, is the last race of the year. As it's the last chance to get challenge points, it's often the most frenetic. This year we'll be running the Proth Prime Search Sieve app (or Proth/Riesel Prime Search Sieve as it may be known by then.) In this app, 32-bit CPUs run fast; 64-bit CPUs run only about 30% faster; ATI GPUs run even faster; and nVIDIA GPUs run the fastest of all! Fermi-based GPUs can get almost as many points with this app as they can get in Collatz! So this is going to be mostly a GPU shootout; especially interesting considering that the 5th Annual Folding@Home Holiday Season Race will be going at the same time. Hopefully most of you will take a break from folding, at least with your GPUs, December 18th through the 21st. And may the best TeAm win! :D
