could anyone help me interpret the results of my prime95 torture test?

http://people.smu.edu/rmandvik/images/prime95-01.jpg

i have a dual core opteron 170 (@2GHz). i ran one prime85 on cpu-0 and the another instance on cpu-1. the prime95 instance with the more test rans (see pic) is the one that i started first and the later one has very few test ran?? why is that?? i have this happened to me twice.

it looks like the affinity isn't being set correctly because only 1 core looks like it is being used by the windows task manager.

well, in one instance i set cpu affinity 0 and the other i set cpu affinity1. that's what is said in the readme.txt.
any suggestions??
also, through most of the torture test, the CPU utlilization is only 50% with one of the CPU core maxed out (usually the CPU core whose prime95 instance runs first). i.e. i ran prime95 with cpu affinity 1 first and then launched the prime95 with cpu affinity 0. i saw that the 2nd cpu core was maxed out.

today i ran the prime95 instance with cpu affinity 0 first and then prime95 with cpu afffinity 1. i saw the 1st cpu core maxed out. (see windows TM in pic).

am i doing any thing wrong??

try stressprime

http://sp2004.fre3.com/sp2004exe_050330.cab

you can set the affinity in a nice looking gui.

it also shows you time w/o having to have task manager open.

what i do is to set it up is use one install

and create two short cuts

for the target of one i had -a1 at the end
for the target of the second one i add -a0 at the end

then you can manually set the affinities to 0 and 1 in the interface w/o having to use task manager to do so.

which torture test should i be running so that both the cpu cores are utlilized at the SAME time??
small FFT / large FFT / blend / custom??

the previous two torture test (blend) runs seem to only utilize one core at one time. the first test ran for 2h and the second test ran for 6h44m.

okie. thanks!!!!!!!. i would try that and post. right now, i'm away from that desktop.

also use small fft.

some people swear by large. but from my personal experience of testing 50+ cpu's i find that small fft is best.

i posted in your other thread.

dunno the difference between cpu and core.

usually the cpu voltage is referred to as the vcore. that's why i'm confused

my system random-crashes sometimes (3 in like 3 days since i built) and then i read about the ballistix 1GB issues nowadays. so i'm running memtest till midnight. then i would run torture tests and have those results posted till tomorrow morning.

please follow up this thread. i would really appreciate that. 😀. thanks for the comments so far.

back to CPU testing, stressprime is good. thanks Shimmishim. i was able to put both cores on work with a 100% cpu utilization for the small FFTs (kept prority 10 for both). the test ran for 8 hours with no errors and still runnin. i plan to let it run till 12 to 16 hours.
questions are: what is that i should be lookin for apart from the succesful tests?? the vcore and temp?? anythin else??

PS: ran memtest 1.55. 4 passes. no errors. and then switched to memtest 3.2. 4 passes no errors. would be testing it more later due to the known issue with ballistix and would put up a different thread too. sorry for that.
