Hi,
I recently swapped a MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum mobo for a DFI LanPartyUT NF-4 Ultra-D mobo. I also swapped my old Radeon 9700Pro out for a Radeon X1900XT. Originally, my mobo and CPU were put together by Monarch Computer Systems, and the guy who assembled the rig must have used too much thermal paste because when I removed the CPU there was a thick thread of paste dangling off the edge and it got onto a few of the pins. I cleaned the pins off pretty well and assembled the new rig. To make sure everything was OK, I decided not to reinbstall WindowsXP Pro, but to see if the system managed to get into the old Windows installation first. Everything went fine and after updating drivers as necessary, I had a working PC. To test the new card, I fired up FarCry and HL2. Both games ran fine and gave me the kind of FPS I was expecting. Yesterday, I decided to try running Prime95 torture tests. The torture test fails after running between 10 min to an hour. I'm wondering why this is the case. My rig wasn't overheating. The games ran fine. Is it a hardware bug, or is it just because of conflicts between the old mobo drivers (which I never removed) and the new ones. Is it harmless, or should I be worried?
