Prime 95 Question: Why is my performance higher when system resources are lower?

Hello,
New Here,

Odd thing happening, when I run Prime 95 after a fresh re-boot, I get .048 sec. per iteration. This is with my std. 97% of system resources showing as always with a fresh re-boot. But, with system resources lower, at like 88-92%, like after being online or after playing some games, the per iteration time is consistently lower at .047 secs.
This goes against anything I have ever known about computers and the use of RAM and system resources.

What's Up Doc?

Bump for a new visitor😉

I'm afraid I know SFA about Prime95😱 ,also it doesn't seem to be a much used DC project here ,hence the lack of response so far

I've never run Prime95, either. But the tool I always use to diagnose speed concerns in any project is Another Task Manager, a freeware program that lets you see how much of your CPU each program uses. I've seen some strange behavior on Win98 that, if I didn't raise every project's thread's priority to 5 or above, could cause the symptoms you described.

Of course, on NT/2K, use the real Task Manager. Good luck! 🙂
