Primary Slave Not Detected

So I tried to image a HD, using Norton Ghost, from Windows 2k to a Linux OS.
Now I'm trying to put 2k back on it and even in DOS I can't pick up the drive.
I tried reinstalling w/ the bootable 2k cd, and deleted/created a new partition, and formatted the drive w/ fat32, but 20% of the way through the installation it starts coming up w/ errors saying it can't copy file "x". So I tried booting up w/ a bootdisk so I can manually delete the partition and reformat, but it doesn't pick up the drive.

Anyone got any bright ideas?

hate to bump so early but I really need to find a solution to this

you might want to do a low level format using Manufacturer's disk utilities
then try it again.
