I have the following:

Maxtor 40gig hd (Bootup Drive, Primary Master obviously)

But i was wondering where i should put these:

Cd-Burner
DVD
Other Hard Drive Used mainly for backup/downloads

Or get a burner with some kinda burnproof tech and not have to worry about it 🙂

Just remember that with two drives on a channel, you can only access one at a time. So it's best not to have the source drive and destination drive on the same channel.
 
I agree with zalen on the recommended setup for your system...

You could get a ata100 or ata133 pci controller card which would give you 2 more channels and that way each device can be on its own channel...~30-40 bucks and needs one available pci slot
