In my System Properties there is a yellow exclamation mark beside "Primary IDE controller (dual info)" and because of this my CD-Rom is dead.

Everything was working properly since a few days a go I noticed my cd-rom didn't appear in WinME. Any clue how to fix this?

I have :

Athlon 1GHZ
Abit KT7
Pioneer DVD Rom (DVD-115)
IBM ATA-100 HD
Pull-Out drive (Wester Digital)

Thanks.

have you tried removing the controllers from device manager and then rebooting and letting windows find them again?

btw..you may need to remove them in safe mode to avoid freezes

I just found out that if I remove my Pull-Out drive and then boot, my Primary IDE controller works fine and so does my CD-Rom.

current setup :

IBM - Primary Master ATA-100

CD-Rom - Primary Master ATA-33
Pull-Out - Secondary master ATA-33

any idea why I can't use both at the same time?

sohcrates - I cant remove this controller, Windows tells me "This device is part of a multi-function device, and cannot be removed independently". Thanks for replying tough :)

What version of via drivers are you using? What OS? Lets look there first...

it's "dual fifo"

uh, see if the drivers for the IDE controllers are installed properly.

by default, the IDE controllers might not have been FULLY installed and "turned on", make sure the proper channels are enabled. double click on them in systems property...

make sure the drives are jumpered correctly =)
