Hi all,

I am getting that error at boot up. What I have done:

Memory is fine. Processor (Have used 2) is fine.

Changed all cables. Unplugged optical drives. Unplugged Hard drive. Changed hard drive.

Then changed Motherboard and SAME THING!@!!!!

I am lost. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

And you're actually using an 80-conductor 40-pin IDE cable right? Have you tried just putting the HDD on a different channel?

Specs? Motherboard? HDD? Cable?

You could always put the HDD on a SATA adapter if you have SATA.

Hi Leigh

Sounds like you've got a 40 wire cable on the HDD.

Maybe you switched the cable somehow between the optical drive (I use a 40 wire on my opticals and an 80 wire on my HDDs) and HDD

I was getting that error with my old Albatron kx600pro. It concerned me but it didn't seem to affect the function of the optical drive, so I just let it ride. Now with my new mb the error doesn't occur. Are you experienceing any problems with the functionality of your drive?

Silly question, but do you have the blue end plugged into the board? It won't see it as a true ATA133 if you don't. At least that's the way it was a few years ago when I encountered this little gem of a lesson.
