Meh, just more neocon reactionary drivel. One of the core neocon aims is to roll back the effects of the civil liberties movement of the 1960's and install their own version of a fascist society ruled by a noble and enlightened elite, i.e. the "new vision".

"With American soldiers fighting overseas, this election offers one last vote on whether the forces put in motion around 1968 will also carry America forward into the new century--or stop, to be replaced, finally, by a new vision."

I agree it is a good read. I do think, however, it takes a rather too patronizing view of the modern Democratic notion that we should use force judiciously, and it seems to imply that Vietnam (regardless of which President started it), Grenada, and, for that matter, the Iran-Contra affair, were Good Things that Democrats were wrong to oppose.

I think the piece correctly observes that this particular election, more than any other election in modern American history, is really a referendum on philosophy, and the battle lines are pretty clearly drawn IMO. I just hope the election is decided on the issues, rather than on who was doing what 30+ years ago.
