primary and secondary ultra ata controllers yellow flagged

first sorry if wrong board not a very technical person so not sure where this belongs.

Ok went to System and clicked Device Manager and under Hard Disk controllers the primary and secondary controllers are yellow flagged, the Intel controller is fine, I checked for updated drivers but am running current ones, so my question is why whould these be yellow flagged?

The two most common reasons I have seen this happen are either a boot-sector virus, these are notorious for knocking out controllers. The second is missing or corrupt chipset drivers. I would be willing to bet that if you have a cdrom hooked to this computer that it is not showing up in My Computer? I would also venture to guess that it is probably a boot sector virus and simply cleaning it will more than likely take care of the problem.

Yes you are right my CD-ROM and CDRW drives are both missing, I ran Nortons and it came up with nothing, so Im back to being lost as what to do. Thanks
