Just got a 2400+ and Asus A7N8X. I've got in there 256MB of samsung pc2700 and corsair pc3200. right now it's at 12.5x172 and 1.8v. It is stable in normal tasks and most benchmarks, but running prime 95, it shows an error after about half an hour, usually. If anything, I think I've got my ram timings too agressive for the samsung. I doubt the cpu is maxing it's O/C at only 2.15Ghz, but I suppose it's possible.

Anyway, tonight I'm going to try a few more things. hopefully I can get it better than it is now. so far I've seen a 700pt increase in 3dmark 2k1 over using my 1700+ and a7v333. other hardware was the same.

it's been fun so far, but there's more yet to be done. I'll keep you updated.

I just got mine together also, and it's stable. I'm not able to change the multipliers on the cpu however, but that's not a concern for a while. What bios are you using, and is that the A7N8X deluxe version? Thanks. Peace.

a7n8x deluxe, yes. and I had to reflash to the older 1001C BIOS, as the one that came with it out of the box 1001G would not allow multiplier changes other than default 15x and 7x when unlocked. We're all hoping Asus will get it right with the newest BIOS which should be out RSN.

I have an Asus A7N8X Deluxe version, but I have never been able to select beyond three FSB speed options: 100, 133, 166. I have tried BIOS versions 1001.c, 1001.g, 1002 Beta 001. Am I forgetting something? I also have a 2400+ processor. My RAM is OCZ performance 3.2 PC2700 (dual 256 meg sticks).

I think you may run into memory stability problems mixing memory speed like that.
Just use the Cosair.

NVM what I said about not being able to unlock the FSB speeds, I had simply not found one of the BIOS settings.
Just use the Cosair.
I realize your talking to the dude at top of this thread, and I'm even moderately shocked that anyone would mix two brands like that, but I feel this applies to me too, since Corsair is exactly the stick of heavenly RAM I wanted for my rig. But believe it or not, up here in Canada, they don't sell that good stuff. I couldn't even find a store that sold anything better than generic PC2700 RAM (at least not with CAS 2 latency) in my province (Quebec). So I ordered that OCZ crap from Ontario. After running a number of tests, I've determined that that RAM won't work at anything near 166 (333 DDR) mhz. IT DOESN'T EVEN WORK WITH CAS 2.5 LATENCY. AHAhahahahaha. Anyway, I'm running it at 145 (290 DDR) mhz right now, and it *seems* to be stable (ie: doesn't crash 3D Mark 2001 SE in less than 2 minutes).

Next time I buy RAM, I'll have it shipped from California if I have to, and screw the custom taxes ;p

EDIT: Actually, tests over a longer period have shown me that anyting over 100 mhz for the memory frequency will cause me grief (blue screens of death and such). This is most unfortunate for DDD333 rated RAM. I also lack a multiplier greater than 17 so I'm running quite under-clocked at the moment. The guarantee better cover this RAM in full, cause I'm returning this crap :-(
