I'm having some trouble with adobe acrobat and a couple other small programs. When I start them, I can't see them. I check the task manager and see that they are running, but I can't find them.

I remember something like this happening years ago, but don't remeber how to fix it.

It started with adobe acrobat locking up when I tried to open a pdf, something about loading the fonts. So i uninstalled AA 6 and installed AA 7 and it started it and it worked fine. Then I tried to open a PDF by just clicking on it and it locked up. Now when I just start AA it runs but it seems to run off screen.

Any ideas about either problem? I have some PDF's I need to see, but I can't.

I did that. I uninstalled acrobat 6 and installed acrobat 7. It worked the first time I ran it, then I tried to open a pdf and it locked up. Now when I just start the program I can't see it. Task manager says it's running, but I can't see it.

Have you run antivirus/antimalware yoots?
MS Beta anti-spyware?
Adaware?
Spybot?
Spysweeper?
etc
All with system restore turned off.
All in safe mode (but updated)?
Have you got a HijackThis log you could post?

Can you try disabling all your anti-vir/spyware?
spybot/norton/spywareguard etc etc,
Of course, keep your firewall enabled.

uninstall acrobat.

restart
disable antivir/spyware as above,

Reinstall acrobat (sorry, there are only a certain amount of times you can do this without wanting to headbutt brick walls)

And, just to check, when you did the scans, you did turn off sysrestore, and do them in safe mode.

Changed resolutions lately, or messed with any dual monitor settings at all? Do you use ATI HydraVision, Microsoft Powertoys Virtual Desktop, NVIDIA nView, or UltraMon?

Otherwise the executable handler may have been screwed. Use this in a command prompt and see if it helps:

start /D"C:\program files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Reader" /max AcroRd32.exe

Replace the path to Acrobat as needed.

I disabled system restore, and I'm in safemode right now, ran SpyBot, ad-aware, and I'm now running the deep system scan with norton AV. (I'm on a dif comp right now posting this)

I haven't intentionally done any of those changes that xtknight mentioned, but I did have F.E.A.R. crash my computer a couple days ago. I wonder if that could have messed anything up?

I will try the command line thing as soon as this scan is done (It's taking forever).
