Priest Holmes, Sure thing or Flash in the Pan?

For several years in their primes, Emmit Smith/ Barry Sanders were MONEY in the BANK sure things. Do you guys see Priest Holmes as a sure thing? or is there a chance that many backs could pass him up this year for season title?

I like Faulks and Edgerrin James chance at catching Priest Holmes this year. Tomlinson too. Ricky Williams.

OF the top 10 backs or so, is there a CLEAR #1?

Tomlinson, WIlliams, S. Alexander and Portis will compete for the season title.

Holmes is good, but he won't be as good as last year.

definitely a sure thing provided he's healthy

Holmes has been awesome since he entered the NFL. He got a crap deal as a Raven and always was a back up to people he was better than. Finally, now on the Chiefs, he's busting out.

As long as the health is ok, he's the real deal and the center piece of a Chiefs offense that can put points on the board.

His O-line is intact and he seemed to be fully recovered. They just need one main receiver to draw some defensive back from clogging up the line. Top 5 back in the league.

Priest Holmes is back. There is no reason to fear his hip. It wasn't the same as Bo Jackson's. He's had zero setbacks. Zero problems. He will be as dominant as ever.

Ricky Williams, Tomlinson, and Portis will all be elite again as well. But the man who could once again rise to the top is Marshall Faulk. He's healthier than he has been in years. He's only 30. His OL has improved. The offense is big play-oriented. And he plays in a very weak division. I look for Faulk to be in the Top 5 or 6 backs this year....at worst.

One could say the same thing about Williams. I mean he had one good season compared to his injury marred seasons.

But back on topic, one good point I have heard against Holmes was that since he had to rehab his injury for much of the offseason he probably
doesn't have the endurance that he did last season. Meaning he might put up big number for the first half of the season, but they (football experts)
expect him to get tired and slow down for the season half of the season putting up lesser numbers.

Now I would say that Holmes is still in the top group . Tomlinson, Portis, Alexander, Faulk, Williams, McAllister, or Holmes are all good picks.

not really.

EVERYONE always knew that Ricky Williams had the stuff. Yes Ditka was a FOOL to put all the eggs in one basket, but even then, everyone KNEW rickey williams was for real. and when healthy he always provided good numbers.

like i said, i dont' really see a BIG 3 or even a BIG 5. a lot of backs have a good chance at coming back. OH btw, don't forget Corey Dillon and Curtis Martin. either of those guys could break out, tho injury to pennington will hurt Curtis martin.

I don't know about Martin this year. He's getting older and slower. This quote was directly from ESPN's website: "Martin, 30, posted his worst season of his eight-year career when he rushed for 1,094 yards. Importantly, he had the fewest carries of his career with 261. Look for the Jets to prolong Martin's career by lessening his role again this season."

Holmes looks to be recovered, from what I've seen in the preseason. I would say if you want to pick him up for a FFB team, he's a top 5 pick. I put him at #2 or #3. Williams, then Tomlinson or Holmes.

He looks to be well-recovered. You have to realize that he has the instincts as a runner and reciever, and you don't lose that in an injury. (Unless you're Aikman)

i don't think you meant that aikman lost his instincts as a runner and reciever right? as he was a QB. 🙂

not sure if they can do that with Pennington out. they will probably have to have him carry a full load.

Yes, I think that quote was made before Pennington's injury, but he is getting more injury prone with age. Hopefully for me the Jets start playing Lamont Jordan more (I just picked him up).

Priest Holmes is the reincarnation of Christian Okoye.

But I still wish I had him on my FF team
