Priest Holmes also pondered retirement.

I'm kind of offended at how Ricky Williams and Priest Holmes make it seem like being an NFL runningback is the hardest occupation in the world. Sure it's a year-round commitment with time in the weight room, video room, countless hours of practice, and the punishment you get from playing one of the toughest (imo) positions in the NFL, but I'm pretty sure anybody would take the millions to play football. While publicity is a double-edged sword, Ricky Williams and Priest Holmes used that as an excuse. I personally see them as two big babies with too much money on their hands.

You can call me stupid and throw lots of counter arguments here and there, but damn, these selfish idiots are getting on my nerves.

Well since i havent walked a mile in their shoes who am i to question them? I heard Williams had some mental issues that led to his decision. I would stick it out though if that were me, good money 🙂.

Did you even read that article? I didn't know wanting to spend time with your loved ones was considered "selfish." I don't think they even want to quit because it's the "hardest occupation in the world." They'd rather do other things with their lives.

Dude, a runningback gets pounded into the ground by 2-3 hundred pounders on every play. Most of us would be in an ambulance after one play! It takes a toll on their body like we can't imagine. Who are we to judge them if they feel that their bodies are wearing down! Do you blame them that they want to be able to walk when they are in their 60's. Taking a pounding day in and day out causes a lot of problems that won't be seen/felt till later years of life. I don't see that as being a baby, i think it's doing what's best for your current or future family.

As to the money issues, don't most nfl stars have too much money on their hands?

You're the selfish one who thinks they should keep playing football for your entertainment.
It's their lives, let them do what they want.

Yeah, to much dope!! and I totally agree with Faenix. They are football playes they KNOW exactly what they got into.

And let them football players come down to our level of life where we make almost nothing compared to them and we have to work year round and they don't.

I'll take their way of life any day of the week compaired to my frigg'n crappy a$$ job, please spare me the stupid talk of 'they get pounded by really big defensive linemen'...hahahaha.

drive 20 mph (because I know you can't run that fast) and jump out into a brick wall and lemme know if you still want thier job.

except williams also has bipolar and i think he's a manic depressive as well. and you wouldn't last 1 day as a high school running back, let alone playing as a professional.

Wow, now thats a real nice analogy of a an NFL running back...to bad its not even close.

You must go to the same "I feel sorry for football runners" school as the dude above you and Ricky quit because after getting busted AGAIN for dope the NFL suspended him for the first 4 games of this upcoming season.

And I don't wish for anyone to get what Ricky has been diagnosed with, [bipolar/manic depressive].

Lol please, that was the worst analogy I've seen so far on these forums.
