System will be along the lines of 3200+, 1GB DDR400, 120 or 160GB S-ATA HD.. but I don't know what motherboard to choose. I'm partial to Asus and MSI. What would you recommend? I have my eye on the K7N2 Delta-ILSR (nForce2 Ultra 400 Chipset + MCP-T, lan, firewire, s-ata, 8x agp, dolby 5.1 sound, etc)

The Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe
Are you talking about "Asus A7N8X-E (5PCI) NForce2 [S462] Deluxe"? If so how good is that board? The MSI is a lot (well, about $40-45cdn) more expensive.

The CPU is named as "AMD Athlon XP 3200+ [400] *Retail Box* 512K" I'm guessing that is Barton?

I'd easily buy the Asus over an MSI nowadays.

What's the price for the A7N8X-E Deluxe? I'm Canadian too 🙂

It has your MCP-T chip for SoundStorm, Promise SATA RAID controller, Gigabit LAN and all the other benefits of a nForce 2 board.

And yes, the CPU you listed is a Barton/Athlon XP. The reason I ask is there is also a Athlon64 3200+.

The Asus has two network ports (one of them is Gigabit) and the MSI has an active northbridge cooler, which isn't necessary and adds noise.

Most likely supply and demand is why the Asus is cheaper as well.
