I bought a AXIA 1.0 gig tbird last week at newegg for $64 an made it a 1.4. It's $78 today🙁

You looked at the online price of a single part from a single vendor and saw that it rose by $13, and decree that it is skyrocketing?

Supply VS. Demand. Nothing more. I don't know for sure, but I would assume that AMD is still producing Athlon C's, but in very limited quantities. When the C's came out, the price of B's rose. Go hunting for a 1GHz B Athlon if youcan find one and see how expensive it is. Ridiculous in my book, especially since you can get a higher clocked C Athlon for less. but that's the way it is.

AMD is also looking to raise prices overall, they know they've been charging too little, and want to raise the prices to be able to survive.
