I posted a link toWinDrivers where they show some big price drops, in a reply to another post.

I just checked pricewatch and the prices are dropping even more.

Didn't see an announcement, so don't know if this is THE price drop or just interim drops in anticipation of an announcement.

Well, the largest drop for a AMD processor is -$38 for the AMD Thunderbird 850. The average drop is about $15. I certainly wouldn't call that a "big drop" in price.

Considering that the average price drop from week to week has been in the range of $1-$5, I would consider these big drops from one week to the next.

I also said that there has not been an announcement of official price drop from AMD. These could well be interim drops as retailers try to make what profit they can from stock on hand before the official announcement. AMD could be holding off an announcement since there is no pressure right now from Intel. This gives AMD an opportunity to maintain a higher profit margin for a little longer than might otherwise have been planned. :)
