In a few weeks a few friends and I (16-20 Aug) are going to be travelling from South Dakota to Nashville, TN to party, hit a couple concerts, BS with some friends we have there, and generally just have an end of the summer road trip. One problem, they're leaving early on the 15th and I can't leave until the evening of the 16th (at the absolute earliest). No ammount of convincing will get them to leave when I can leave as they want to catch an extra concert.

Trip distance 973 miles
My options are:
1. Drive my 4.3 V6 S10 there and back (roughly 13 hours drive time, 22 mpg) - around $260 for gas round trip for traveling
2. Borrow my dad's 4 cyl Jetta (he lives 3 hours to the west though, 31 mpg) - something like $200 for gas round trip just for traveling
3. Get a plane ticket and fly out of Minneapolis (4 hours of driving time, unknown cost ticket cost)

Priceline.com has the deal where you can choose a ticket price and hope some airline will pick you up for that price. Does this even work well? I was thinking if I could get the ticket for $150 round trip I would make off like a bandit, but I have no idea if anyone would even take me.

Any other suggestions/ideas are welcome.
