Do they pretty much shaft you on times and give you huge lay overs or how and the heck can they do that? I took a look and its kind of enticing but I'm curious if its even worth the trouble over normal "online booking agents"

I have got some deals through them when I was in school... However, if you have time limitations its better not to risk bidding.. In my case the layovers were mostly between 1-3 hrs but their routing was ridiculous.

If I am not wrong they do have a maximum layover time...

Max that they will do is 2 connections.

I have not noticed excessive layoever times.

Trying to plan for synchin up with someone at an airport is not advisable. They can put you on flight that day if the price bid is accepted; however it could be a 5AM or a 11PM flight.

When you say time limitations like I have to be somewhere on a certain date for an event or something like that? One of my friends is moving to the Caribbean and I'm just going down to visit/hang out this spring.

I meant to say if you have a time preference (morning or evening) or if supposing in no case you want to reach the destination after 6:00pm... things like that...

Usually the deals are good, but the flight times (including layovers) could be long.. It once took me 6.5 hrs to fly between Cincinati, OH and New York (usually a 2hr direct flight)

You will be able to depart on the date requested.
You may not arrive on the day departed.
You may spend more time in an connecting airport than you do in flight.

To use them; check with 2-3 web sites and locate the loest fares being offered.

Check with the airlines on how full the flights are.

That will give you a clue on how willing the system will be to offer you a seat belowe what is listed on the web sites.

Hight load/demand = less price flexability.
attempting to do this a day or two before will not guarentee you a seat at a lower price.
While you might be able to snag a good price late in the day before the flight; you are taking your chances if you need to be there that day on the cheap.
