Price of an SUV - $35K, Price of Gas - $3, Price of Katrina - Unbelievable

I was involved in a conversation today regarding the natural disasters that the US is suffering lately. It seems they are getting bigger and bigger every year.

From Hugo to Katrina to Tornadoes and Wildfires(some are not natural).

It begs a question from all of us: When will we realize that perhaps we need to cut down on our rampant rape of Mother Earth?

That was a question that I didn't ask, but was asked. My answer was typical..I am not contributing to that as much....tell that to people who have SUVs and so on.

I realized something..I am as guilty as everyone.

Is it time that we look at what damage we are doing to Mother Earth and how that is affecting us?

For example, I am in SoCal..the summers here have been getting hotter and hotter. 10 years ago, we didn't have this much heat. Now we do. I end up using AC in my car and house and office. Wasting more and more energy and polluting more and more.

It is food for thought for sure. Katrina was as big as she was cause of global warming.

Time to realize that those SUVs may not be as cool as we thought initially.

Opinions and well-thought out thoughts only...no Flaming please. If you have nothing productive to add, don't. 🙂

Why don't you do something productive and shut off your computer, it saves resources.

I have lived in So. Cal. for many decades and this is far from the hottest summer we have ever had.

The climate goes in cycles. Thirty years ago fringe groups were whining about global cooling. What's next?

OTFTW

but really, ill give a response back.

how do we know this isnt a cyclic occurance, sorta like a womans period. how do we know that? we havent been around long enough to know.

NFS4, Mother Earth may need all of K-Marts tampons.

now prove my theory wrong.

Either humans or the world will end first, but Im leaning towards humans.

It is the Earth's natural "equilibrium" to control our population, but we have been doing our best to fight back: technology, medicine, etc.

But we are also killing ourselves at the same time: draining resources, killing the atmosphere, etc.

It will either all end in chaos, or we will actually find a way to create power from renewable resources, and we won't pollute, etc.

It's like a cycle, like everyone says, this might just be another time period, and we go through some Revolution, like the industrial revolution, and everything we do 20 years from now will be totally different from now.

20 years is prolly a bad estimate, but humans work exponentially, so no telling how much longer we have...

rofl the "o-zone"

how do you expect us to take you seriously?

I figured there would be a bunch of idiots posting here. Just wanted to see who they are. Now we all know who you all brainless and pathetic beings are. Haha

Link to evidence for these assertions?

Wrong.

S. Cali Los Angeles area average temp 84 F
Today
S. Cali Los Angeles area average 83 F

Record 1967 103 F

I've lived in S. Cali most of my life and there has been worse summers than this.

My bad, humans will never die.

I must have misthought what I was talking about, because apparently the earth's atmosphere is getting increasingly better as the years go on.

Hurricanes were hitting the area we call New Orleans for hundreds of thousands of years before white man ever layed eyes on the land.

In this case, it has nothing to do with the rampant rape of Mother Earth.

That is another issue entirely.

I am big on the whole environmentalism movement too but can you please only say things that can be backed up by facts. Katrina was as big as she was because of Global Warming!?

If you told me that we were messing up the gulf stream due to the melting of polar caps and that it affects the weather in some way I would agree with you. Now show me the research that shows that it causes larger hurricanes.

If you told me that the permafrost melted and lakes hidden under ice were dissappearing into the ocean I would agree with you. Now show me some research that shows that it caused Katrina to become category 5.
