I have a Dell Inspiron 5000 notebook that I bought about 18 months ago. It came with a CD Rom. I would now like to replace the cd rom with a DVD rom for watching movies while on the road. Dell's price for a DVD rom for this unit is $210 US. This sounds little high to me. What do you guys think? Are DVD roms for notebooks that much more expensive?
Thx for any info or advice.

Yes, they are pretty expensive. Even an internal Zip Drive can cost $200 - they can charge whatever they want because you usually HAVE to buy their hardware because nothing else will "fit". There are several deals on Dell.com in Hot Deals forum - like %20 off and better. check them out.
