I've been hearing about price drops coming around in August...is this true? Or just rumors?

I want to get a dual-core system, but right now, a 4200+ is barely making my budget ($60 over). But if the prices are gonna drop ~$50 or so...I'll wait.
 
I don't think we know whether there will actually be any meaningful price drops or not. However, if you don't need to buy immediately, and the 4200+ is already stretching your budget, you may want to wait and see how the 3800+ X2 will be priced (and how it'll perform). Supposedly that's supposed to be launched on August 1 if I remember correctly - that is, unless they do a paper launch. 😛
 
If it's a paper launch, you're not going to see them until September, and you're not going to see them at reasonable prices until October 😛

Aren't they calling it the 4000+? I thought it was 2.0 GHz for $345 or something like that...could be wrong

Either way, I'm going to be picking up a 4400+ in a few months.
