Price Drop?

As the topic summary states, I'm wondering what, if any, price drop is expected on current cards when the new 8800's come out.

I've been meaning to upgrade for about a month now but have decided to wait it out in the hopes of saving a little cash since I need to upgrade some other components as well. The money is burning a hole in my pocket and if its a matter of 30 bucks or so its not worth it to wait. I plan on getting a 7950gt or an x1900xt depending on price.

I wouldn't expect mid range cards to change all that much. If anything, I'd get a 7900GTX since it will be the new mid range card.

I think most of the price drops (at least for NV cards) have already happened. IIRC, there are 7900GTX cards out there for $300 AMIR. With the price of the 8800GTS apparently set at $450-500, the new cards really won't have too much effect on cards selling at the $300 mark. I think that the higher end 7-series will disappear before they become bargain parts.

Actually most 7900GTXs still sell for about $450. The 7950GTX sells for about $100 more. MSI was offering a large rebate on some 7900GTXs which is where people got that $350 amount from. But those are all sold out anyways.

I'm backing off ATI as a choice for now. Seems to be missing in the driver support side. I'm going for the 7950gt, good drivers, and if I get an EVGA brand card I can step up to the G80 cards in a month or two. Now if I could only find a 7950gt at a 250.00 price point from a retailer I'd bite the bullet finally. Guess I'll have to wait till after the 8th and see if there are any good deals around.
